The Community of the Abruzzo National Park, established by a comprehensive law of the Parks on the 6th December 1991, n.394, is the proposing and advisory organ of the Abruzzo National Park Autonomous Organisation.
It elects 5 components of the Managing Council of the Organisation as representatives of the local population and includes 23 communes.

The Abruzzo side of the Park include three district:
the High Sangro: the most exploited and known zone of the Park, including the villages of: Pescasseroli, Opi, Villetta Barrea, Civitella Alfedena, Barrea and Alfedena;
the Marsica Fucense, with the villages of Villavallelonga, Ortona dei Marsi, Gioia dei Marsi, Lecce nei Marsi e Bisegna - S.Sebastiano;
The Sagittarious Valley, where you can find Scanno, which with its lake constitutes one of the most typical village.
On the meridional side, already in the Molise territory, meandering the Volturno Valley,framed by the chain of the Mainarde mountains and including: Pizzone, Castel San Vincenzo, Rocchetta a Volturno, Scapoli and Filignano.
Finally, on the Latium side, which is looking at the Comino Valley, there are the villages of: Campoli Appennino, Alvito, San Donato Val di Comino, Settefrati, Picinisco, San Biagio Saracinisco.
