Born in the 1922, the ABRUZZO NATIONAL PARK has became famous in Italy and in the world as a pilot institution for the nature preservation: a model inspiring nowadays all the parks of the world. One of the best aspect of this park, at the same time ancient and modern, is the transmission, by means of a constant effort of communication with the public, of hte vivid enthusiasm and genuine organisational capability. This has eventually contaminated everybody, constituting in this way an example of protected territory which is the fruit of tiring labour and of infinite concrete initiatives.
    The Abruzzo National Parkis forty thousands hectares wide and is surrounded by an external protection zone of sixty thousands hectares.It is placed ine the heart of the Central Appennines, spread among the Abruzzo, Molise and Lazio Regions. The ambient is the typical mountain of the Apennines of which is keeping all the environmental moulds of the flora and the fauna.
    The Park is today the last zone of Italy were have their last sanctuary animals once living in the whole Apennines: theMarsican Bear, the Apennine Wolf and the Chamois of Abruzzo. Among the innumerable species of the flora, it is possible to find rarities like the "Little Shoe of Venus" and the " Marsican Poggiolo ".
