It is the most important centre of the Abruzzo National Park and it is gratly renowon touristic resort, perfectly equiped for the summer holidays and for the winter sports.
It is located in the high Valley of Sangro, at the northern end of a wide dell between mountains, partially covered with pine and beech woods.
The name of PESCASSEROLI seams derived from "Pesculum Serulae" i.e. a sheer cliff rock; according to Benedetto Croce (a philosopher born in this location) the etymology is "Pesculum ad Sarolum" i.e. rock near the small Sangro, a river name recalling to the memory ancient pelagian transmigrations.
