The Natural History Museum of the Peligna Valley Community holds an entomological and
mineralogical collection of incredible beauty and scientific interest. The entomological section is devoted to local insects, to the wonderful, composite world of the little genes of nature. About 7000 examples are shown in the museum and they are divided by family and ecological function; its variety and rarity make this collection unique in its genre throughout the whole national territory.
The mineral collection is formed by 1150 specimen coming from all over the world and representing 527 species. About 70 minerals shown in this museum are not even to be found in the Mineralogical Museum of Rome University although this holds one of the largest collections in Italy and one of the best in Europe.
Another particular feature of the museum is represented by the series of teaching tablets and by the water colour drawings reproducing animals of the community territory fauna and the Majella park.
