PREZZA

Prezza is along the street which from St. Venanzio dikes goes back to Raiano. The town, lying on a mountain spur of Sirente Chain, looks on to the entire Peligna Valley and is rightly defined as the "Peligna valley terrace". It is actually from that mountain spur that one of the most beautiful view of peligna valley can be enjoyed: a suggestive scenery which can be totally appreciated when going down to the valley St. Cosimo hill is left of the right. While going through the flat ground "La Torre", we are introduced in Tratturo, the old stree of transhumance which was connected to Sulmona.
This village is situated at 580 m. a.s.l. and it preserves a medieval historical centre which is mainly a residential place for a population of 1111 inhabitants. To be visited: St. Lucia's church (XV) who is the patron of the village, St. Giuseppe's church (1300-1400), the baron Palace and the underpasses and arches in the historical centre. The economy is mainly agricultural and some of the most renowned products are Montepulciano wine, oil, artichokes, red garlic and home-made bread. During leisure time, people can go for beatiful walks and rich fishing along the river.
