ROCCACASALE

Roccacasale is a small mountain village at the foot of the Morrone Mountain and an old castle of Castolfi series rises above it.
The origin and the existence of this town have been over the centuries strictly linked to the castle of De Sanctis barons As a matter of fact, by playing a basic role of defence, it has fostered the survival of such a small dwelling centre which otherwise might have not resisted up until today.
Roccacasale castle has the typical features of the enclosed castles, with its triangular plan and the tower in the highest poin. Inside the defensive enclosure, many remains of real stone buildings can still be found.
The village has a typically medieval urban structure and it rises at the foot of the castle.
Roccasale is "waterfall" shaped as it is very similar to a pyramid having St. Michele Arcangelo's church and the baronial palace on its top. Many portals and windows arousing interest and curiosity often open on the most hidden lanes and you can frequently see some findings such as helf-moons and stars armorial bearings, stylized flowers and so forth.
