VITTORITO

The name Vittorito comes from the old Vicus Turritus, a primitive settlement of the year 1000 which gave birth to the medieval centre. During the XIV and XV century, the village experienced further expansion and since then it has been renowned for the quality of its wine: today still when one says "this wine is from Vittorito when one says "this wine is from Vittorito" they want to boast of a tradition which has not changed as time went by. The remains of a medieval castle which once was probably strong and mighty and many architectural finds bear witness to the old origins of this town equidistant from Corfinio and Raiano. Along the village roads, almost all the buildings are of Renaissance and nineteenth century style enhancing the fame of a village whose main resources have always been grape and oil.To be seen and visited: Madonna del Borgo's church (XV century), St. Michele Arcangelo's church (XIV century), the Palace (XIV century), the gate with the clock, the remains of the castle and archaelogical finds of roman time.
